Dr. Scholl’s founder, Dr. William Mathias Scholl, was born in Indiana in 1882. William’s family was made up of cobblers and farmers. When he was young, William found an interest in biomechanics and shoes. He immersed himself in research regarding foot care and even used his grandfather’s tools to repair shoes for people and earn some money.

Once out of high school, William went on to study medicine at the Loyola University of Chicago. While in college, William earned money working in a shoe store to earn money and learn more about feet and shoes. While working in that store, he became interested in podiatry.

While still in college, Dr. Scholl actually designed, invented, and patented his own product made for arch support. This was in 1904. He decided that, in order to get the word out quicker and reach a broader demographic, he needed to partner with his brother, Frank, to found Dr. Scholl’s company and expand the business overseas.

Even though the original Dr. Scholl isn’t around anymore, the people who took over the company are still dedicated to continually advancing technologies and study the science of movement and foot care. Dr. Scholl’s mission has always been, and always will be, helping people to live their lives more confidently and comfortably. You can find other products by Dr. Scholl’s here.

Arch Support

The quality of arch support in Dr. Scholl’s Insoles is going to distribute the pressure from foot strike across your entire foot, evenly, which will help relieve pain and get your body aligned the way it should be. The arch will also help to provide you with the balance and stability of your feet and body need.

While they’re working on improving your balance and posture, they’re also lessening your pain and symptoms related to lack of support and imbalance. Foot pain is not an uncommon thing for people to deal with at some point in their lives. If you have high arches, this might help you.

There are many benefits to wearing insoles with arch support in them. As the name suggests, “arch supports” provide support. If you need special support for a condition like plantar fasciitis, arch supports can help reduce the pain you experience. Dr. Scholl’s Active Series work to alleviate some or all of your pain to allow you the freedom to live your day without focusing all of your thoughts on your tired and aching feet.

The arch support in Dr. Scholl’s Active Insoles doesn’t just help to alleviate pain but can even prevent collapsing of your arches. When your arches collapse, it causes your plantar nerve to stretch out. The extra pressure put on your plantar nerve can lead to the painful foot condition known as plantar fasciitis.

If you want to get the most out of your Dr. Scholl’s Insoles, you’ll want to invest in a quality pair of running shoes. Make sure the shoes you wear have enough support to complement the benefits of your arch support.

Forefoot Support

The one area of your foot that typically doesn’t get enough attention is your forefoot. When shoes, socks, and insoles are designed, the attention is usually placed more-so on the heels and arches. Yes, those areas of your feet definitely need the attention they receive, but you can’t forget about your forefoot.

When your forefoot (ball of your foot) lacks the right amount of support and cushioning, you’re likely to experience more itching, burning, blisters, cracks, and pain on the ball of your foot. If you struggle with blisters, you can find helpful tips here.

The thick cushioning in the forefoot of Dr. Scholl’s Insoles will work day-in and day-out to cushion each foot strike. This will allow your feet to move more naturally and even provide you with some energy return. The cushioning reduces the pressure your feet normally feel with every footstrike. Reducing this pressure can reduce the pain of metatarsalgia and Morton’s neuroma.

Metatarsalgia is a condition in which you experience pain in the ball of your foot. You may have heard this condition called a stone bruise as well. This condition is painful and affects your joints and bones in your metatarsal area. The cushioning of Dr. Scholl’s Series Insoles can help to alleviate some of the pain caused by this condition.

Morton’s neuroma is a condition that develops when your third intermetatarsal space is inflamed. This space is better known as the ball of your foot. This condition typically develops when this area of your foot experiences prolonged and consistent compression on your plantar nerve. Morton’s neuroma can cause an awful lot of pain, but Dr. Scholl’s are here to help.

Heel Cup

Dr. Scholl’s Active are equipped with a deep heel cup, which acts as a valuable and effective tool to assist in reducing the amount of pressure that is put on your heel. The cup cushions your heel during foot strike and helps to guide your feet naturally through their strides. The cup also provides you with much-needed stability, which is great at helping with overpronation.

Many people struggle with overpronation. If you happen to be one of them, that means that your arches roll inward when you’re walking. This puts a lot of pressure on the rest of your body, believe it or not. It can cause pain in your feet, ankles, legs, hips, and back. You can be born with overpronation or you can develop it from pregnancy or obesity. No matter why you overpronate, Dr. Scholl’s Insoles can help.

When your arch rolls inward during walking, you’re more susceptible to injuries. Because you’re at a higher risk, you want to make sure that your shoes and insoles are working to give your feet extra stability. If your shoes don’t seem to be cutting it, Dr. Scholl’s Series Insoles are the perfect addition.

Before deciding to purchase any kind of product in hopes of treating symptoms of a foot condition, consult your Dr. to be certain that you won’t cause yourself any pain. You can find individual heel cups here.

Pain Relief

Dr. Scholl’s Series Insoles are able to help relieve pain from conditions like runner’s knee, plantar fasciitis, and shin splints. What gives them this ability is the combination of the toe to heel support, stability, cushioning, and shock absorption.

He suggests that you place them in your shoes and then ease yourself into wearing them. Start with just a few hours a day and then as your feet get used to them, and they get used to your feet, you’ll be all set to run for hours.

As always, be sure to consult your doctor before purchasing.

Odor Control

It’s no secret that a lot of people struggle with food odors. Even so, people stick get embarrassed by it - understandably. People who struggle with foot odors typically struggle with sweaty feet that cause the odor, to begin with. Having excess perspiration in your socks and shoes due to poor breathability will lead to trouble.

When your socks and shoes are saturated, they are bacteria’s perfect breeding grounds. These bacteria come to feed on your sweat. Once they do, they produce an acid that they leave behind. This acid is what causes the odor. And it’s not just the odor you need to worry about. These bacteria can also cause Athlete’s foot and toenail fungus.

Thankfully, there are measures in place to avoid this problem in your Dr. Scholl’s Active Series Insoles. They are equipped with SweatMax technology from Dr. Scholl’s. This is a combination of baking soda and charcoal. The baking soda reacts with some of the compounds that are responsible for the odor and work to prevent it.

The downside to the baking soda is that it has a small surface area which makes it less effective. This is why the design team used activated charcoal alongside the baking soda. The charcoal absorbs odor well because it has a bigger surface area that allows more room for pockets and pores (millions) which catch the odors and trap them.

You can work to protect yourself from foot odors in a few ways. Keep your feet dry. Wear breathable shoes and socks. Change your shoes daily, allowing enough time for them to air out and dry completely. Wear clean cotton socks that will wick up your sweat. Use drying powders. Wash and dry your feet thoroughly one or two times a day. Here are some more tips for foot odors.
