Increasing the size of your family should never be an excuse to stay inside and let your fitness go. The Baby Jogger Summit X3 is an excellent choice for families who still want to go out and explore but want to take their little ones with them. It might not be the best option for running, even though it is considered a jogging stroller, but it is still a decent choice for overall outdoor use. It is on the pricey side, but it has a long life span so it won't need to be replaced for a while, if at all. It is easy to use; however, it is a bit heavy, so if you do not have the strength to lift and carry the stroller, it can become more of a burden than it's worth. Overall, though, it is a pretty decent stroller that many customers love.

Activities

When you have little ones at home, it can be hard to get outside and focus on your fitness, but with the use of a good jogging stroller, you can still go out and enjoy the outdoors, get your workouts in, all while bringing your child along with you. Gone are the days of skipping your runs because you couldn't find a babysitter. Of course, you will not be limited to just running and jogging with this stroller; actually, the Summit X3 is not the best rated when it comes to run-ability. That being said, it is still a great middle of the road stroller; it is nice and stable and feels OK when you are running, it is just not the best for those who want to do a lot of jogging.

If you want to head out for adventures in the wilderness or want to go exploring parks, this buggy will be a perfect choice. The large tri-wheel design allows you to sail over obstacles that might get in your way (branches, roots, stones) with ease. All and all, if you want something for running then you might want to find a better option, anything else, this one will be a great choice.

Ease of Use

The Baby Jogger Summit x3 is not terribly hard to use, and most customers have no problems with it at all. You can fold it up super easy and can be done one-handed; however, the stroller is a bit on the heavy side so it can be a hassle to do it with just one hand if you cannot easily lift it up. The weight of the stroller has some customers complaining because it can become very burdensome when you have to lift it to store it in your car or closet. Even though the buggy folds up quickly enough, the heft of it makes it awkward to move around.

The brakes on the Jogger are single action and are super easy to use. You will hear an assuring click when you set the brake, so you know that it is on, but the pedals can be a bit difficult to push down. Additionally, the hand brake that is supposed to be used for deceleration is rather hard to squeeze.

Size

The Baby Jogger Summit x3 is not a small stroller by any means, but it is not overly bulky looking or feeling. It is a bit on the heavy side, though, weighing in at 32.2 pounds. One good thing about the buggy, however, is that it does meet the Disney size requirements if you plan on taking it with you to the park.

This stroller is recommended for children up to about 60 pounds, so if you need one for a larger child, then you might want to consider a different option. Additionally, if you have a small baby, under a couple of months old, then you might want to consider the optional car seat adapter mounting bracket so you can keep your little one snuggly in place in their baby seat while you are out and about.

Terrain

Thanks to the large tri-wheel design allow you to take the buggy over a plethora of terrains with ease. You can sail right across the sand on the beach, roots in the woods, or potholes in the road without disturbing baby and slowing you down. If you are taking it off-road, however, you are going to want to use some caution and not go too fast, as there is a risk of the stroller tipping if you hit an unusually large bump.

Customers love that you can take this stroller almost anywhere though. Additionally, you can take this indoors as well, perfect for heading to the mall for a day of shopping. The front swivel wheel lets you maneuver around tighter spaces so you can travel just about anywhere.

Comfort

The Baby Jogger Summit x3 might be reasonably comfortable for your child; however, it is not at all pleasant for most runners. The handlebar is stationary and cannot be adjusted to varying heights, which can be a pain if you are shorter than about 5'7. If you are on the short side, then this is not going to be very comfortable stroller for you to push around. Additionally, it is a bit on the heavy side, which contributes to the overall discomfort.

On the other hand, this is a great buggy for your little one, and there is a decent amount of room in the seat for them to stay nice and comfy throughout their adventure. The back of the chair reclines on various levels to achieve the highest level of comfort for your child. It is well ventilated but is going to give you better air flow when the seat is reclined. That being said, if it is reclined, you run a higher risk it tipping while you are out and about. If you are running or traversing over rough terrains, you are going to want to sit the baby upright to decrease the risk.

The large overhead canopy helps keep baby comfy as well, keeping the sun off of him/her while you are enjoying a beautiful summer day. It is not just the sun; however, as it can reduce the wind, your little one will encounter and help protect them from moisture if it starts to drizzle while you are out and about. The sunshade has some vents on each side to allow air to flow smoothly in to cool down your little one.

Durability

One of the better features about the Baby Jogger Summit x3 stroller is the longevity. It is a built sturdy and will not wear and tear quickly. As long as you're taking care of the buggy, it should last you for years, even through more than one child if that is something that you are looking for. Reviewers have stated that the fabric feels great and will not easily snag, which is excellent for little ones. It has a slicker feel, almost like plastic, but that will allow it to be wiped down easier so you can keep it nice and clean.

The stroller has a pretty solid frame that is designed to withstand a lot and keep up with your active lifestyle. The wheels have great tread and sturdy construction so you won't have to worry about them popping while you are out and about.

Some customers mentioned that they had had this stroller for well over a year and it still looks terrific, almost like new, except for some scratches, but that can be expected when you are active with a little one. Cleaning the buggy is easy. You can wipe it down with water and mild soap, and it will be good as new.

Value

The Baby Jogger Summit x3 is a bit on the pricey side when compared to some of the other, similar products on the market. It has a pretty good lifespan, so the price is not wholly unjustified; however, it is not the best stroller on the market, and there are plenty of customers who were unhappy with this purchase. If you want something for running, as this is advertised for, you are probably going to want to consider something else for this price point, as it is not the most comfortable and stable to run with. This buggy is great for adventuring but might not be the best for running, which makes the price point a bit too steep for many families.

Safety

The Jogger has a decent amount of safety features integrated into the design, but some significant downfalls to it might prove to be too much for some families. It does have a five-point harness to keep baby securely in place while you are out and about, no need to worry about them falling out of the stroller while you are on to go getting injured. The sunshade also does a pretty good at protecting your little one from the elements with a UPF 50+ canopy to protect from the sun.

The problems with the Summit X3 mainly stem from the seat being declined while you are out and about. When your little one is lying all the way back, it becomes a bit unstable and can become a tipping risk which can lead to unnecessary injury. Additionally, if you are trekking over rough terrain, you are going to want to make sure you lock the front tire in place, and even then if you encounter a large stick, hole, or stone the wheel can get caught and cause the stroller to tip over.

Accessories

There are a few things you can purchase separately with this stroller that you might want to consider buying to improve your overall experience. If you have a newborn baby, you can buy an adapter for the stroller so you can use it with your infant seat, keeping your little one safe while you are on the go. Some consumers might even opt to buy a hand pump to keep with them, just in case the tires get low and need a little extra air.

Features

There are a plethora of features you can take advantage of with the Baby Jogger. It has a hand brake on the handle that is supposed to help you when you are traveling down hill. Be advised though that it can be hard to use the brake and some customers have stated that it does not work the best.

The buggy has a remote wheel lock which is convenient as it will allow you to switch between keeping your front wheel locked or allowing it to swivel while you are on the go. This switch is located right on the handlebar, so you do not have to get down and mess with the wheel while you are out and about.

The stroller offers a decent amount of storage so you can take your essentials with you while you head out. The basket underneath the seat is perfect for carrying your diaper bag and other necessities you will need while you're out and about, please note that it does have a weight restriction of 10 pounds. Additionally, there is a mesh pocket located behind the seat with a 2-pound weight restriction. This is great for carrying your water bottle or snacks while you're on the go.

Style

The Baby Jogger Summit x3 buggy has a three-wheel design, which is the norm for this type of product. It comes in a couple of color options so you can find one that best suits your families needs. You can pick from black with grey, green with grey, or orange with grey.

Bottom Line

The Summit X3 is not really a lousy stroller, but it does not appear to be very good at its intended purpose, which is a jogging stroller. If you are running with the buggy, it can become a bit difficult, and some reviewers stated that is starts to get a bit unstable. It is pretty good at going over a plethora of surfaces, but if you are traveling with your little one laying down and the seat fully reclined, you should use caution as it starts to become a tipping hazard. It is excellent for walking and even trekking carefully through the woods, so it is not a total loss. It is highly durable, and many customers do love the buggy. Even though it is easy to use, it is a bit on the heavy side which can become a slight nuisance. Overall, the stroller is not that bad, but there might be better options on the market.
