Converse Chuck Taylor Reviewed for Versatile Style
Calling all punks, grunge-chic princesses, and, well, just about everybody else; we’re giving you the skinny on a shoe that is as timeless as it is versatile. The Chuck Taylor has lasted for years and years, and quite frankly it’s probably in my top 10 shoes of all time. Their success is grounded in the fact that you can pair this design with just about anything. Skirts, pants, shorts; honestly, it covers every base. They also have gained popularity in multiple different circles of fashion giving them a much larger market than your average sneaker.
Chuck Taylors are a must-have for any wardrobe and a staple for many. Today we’re going to talk about their performance in multiple different categories, as well as what I’ve found to be great, and not so great, about this design.
Let’s get to it!
You know that when you're buying a brand name product you're paying for quality (most of the time). The old adage "You get what you pay for" stands true in the face of many brands. Converse is one such brand. How many people do you know who still wear their Chuck Taylors that they originally got when they were like thirteen? I know I've met quite a few.
Converse is a brand with a rich history and fantastic reviews across the board. This design is a testament to them.
The reason why it's so airy is that of the material it's made with. Canvas is a fantastic material to craft shoes from. It's easy to clean, easy to maintain, and has an excellent reputation for durability.
The high-quality materials from which they're made are a huge source of this durability. I think that the minimalistic construction also has a hand in it. There are fewer places for them to fall apart at, and the seams that are there are sewed up tight. Remember: this brand has been around for a long, long time. They certainly know at this point how to make a shoe that lasts.
There are even comic book characters that have made appearances, as well as several other specialty styles. If you want something more exciting or unconventional, then you're covered! When I say you can get pretty much anything, I mean it. Converse has gone way overboard in this arena... but that isn't a bad thing! No matter your fandom, passion, or aesthetic, you'll find the exact right pair for you.
On top of this, they also provide some stellar style. Chuck Taylors can be worn with anything- anything. I've seen them paired with pretty, floral dresses just as readily as skinny jeans and band shirts. The most flowery girl in the world will easily be wooed by their endless selections and perfect pairability with anything and everything. Punk rockers will rejoice in their grunge aesthetic, aided sometimes by alterations customers can add. Some people like to beat them up a little so they have that "grunge" look.
So, live it up! These score 10/10 in style because of their versatility.
Of course, they don't actually have any cushioning. Because of this, I do subtract a few points in comfort. It's a little bit of a nitpick, but it's important to note that any shoe that lacks cushioning isn't as comfortable as it could be. On the other end, however, it means having a great feel for the ground. It's a give and takes sort of thing, and it's up to you to decide what's most important to you.
We're going to talk about canvas a little bit again. Canvas is fantastic because it conforms to your foot. It has a little bit more "give" than other materials might. Even if the shoe is tight when you first buy it, don't sweat it! It'll stretch over time to give you a perfect fit. Just be sure to give yourself some break-in time since this is a style that could use it.
While they lack cushioning, they also lack the extra weight and material that comes with it. This is a fantastic design for being out and about because they're so lightweight. However, if you're prone to pain in general, you may want to pick a more cushy pair for longer days. People with high arches or flat feet may have some problems, too, since these problems require special care.
Aside from that, these are quite possibly one of the most comfortable shoes out there. You'll hardly find a complaint out there when it comes to their ability to provide support throughout your day. Don't worry about sore feet at the end of the day when you don't have to. With Converse, it's never a problem.
Their style is absolutely unparalleled. Few designs could be paired in so many settings, but the Chuck Taylor does so with ease. Even dresses can be paired with them! No matter what you're wearing for the day, this design is sitting in your closet waiting for you. Those who are big fans of minimalism would do well to invest in a pair because of this. Being able to pair this design with anything means having way less laying around in your closet. Versatility is your best friend, which means that, by extension, this shoe is your best friend, too.
Converse also offers this design in countless different options. Colors, patterns, characters, and more are all featured in their line-up. You can name literally anything and probably find it. If not, you can always use DIY methods to spice things up a little. It's really popular for people who buy these to add their own additions with pens, dye kits, and more. The possibilities for customization are endless. It's quite popular to do in order to stand out a little more and to make your aesthetic truly your own. Hell, some kids just take a sharpie and doodle! Whatever you want to do, you can do.
This is a lightweight, breathable, ultra-stylish sneaker that you would be silly to pass up. It's in a league of its own and has earned its place in pop culture through hard work and constantly high-quality craftsmanship. There is almost no shoe out there that can compare to its hype (except maybe the Air Jordan line). So, whether you want to invest in these is up to you, but I can't recommend them enough.
