Outsole

The new Saucony Cohesion 11 is not much different from the previous model regarding the outsole. Namely, it is made of a durable rubber material to ensure a long lasting effect. This outsole material acts as a sort of shield for the entire shoe, especially the midsole, protecting it from abrasions. The outsole also provides excellent traction that will hold up on wet surfaces as well. The forefoot area of the outsole features Flex Grooves, which besides enhancing the shoe’s flexibility, also help the runner grip onto the ground and provide a smooth and natural toe-off for easy transitions.

Midsole

The Saucony Cohesion 11’s midsole contains a full-length foam unit for ample underfoot cushioning. The heel area features the Heel Grid System technology with extra padding for the heel, which is great at absorbing the shock of each footfall. It also contains a crisscross design that helps keep the heel in place during use. The comfort does not stop there, though. Saucony included its REACT2U memory foam all along the footbed, which is a lightweight foam material that molds to the shape of each individual’s feet, providing customized support to whatever area of the underfoot needs additional support. This model is an excellent choice for short distances or even everyday use, since it will provide adequate supportive cushioning.

Upper

The new model features a lightweight and very breathable mesh upper, which promotes free air circulation and helps regulate the temperature inside the shoe for a dry and cool ride without overheating. In addition, the mesh upper of this running shoe is interwoven with synthetic overlays, which help the shoe to keep its shape and they lock the foot down in a secure and snug position. Contributing to the stable position of the feet is the standard lacing system, which can adjust the upper to anyone’s foot shape and they will not untie mid-run, a characteristic runners appreciated. The tongue and collar feature enough padding to keep the feet nicely cushioned and stable throughout the running session and prevent the slipping of feet inside the shoe.

Weight

The Saucony Cohesion 11 weighs 9.6 ounces for the men’s size and 8.2 for the women’s and is considered a lightweight running shoe, excellent for those 5k-10k runs as well as everyday use. The reason for this light weight is that the cushioning is lighter in this version. However, it still provides enough support and stability to be a great running shoe while not weighing the runner down.

Breathability

The open construction of the mesh upper on the new Saucony Cohesion 11 allows the air to circulate freely in and out of the shoe, leaving the feet dry and cool. This also helps with temperature regulation, so your feet will not get overheated and you don’t have to worry about hot spots either. The synthetic overlays provide a structured fit, yet do not take away from the breathability of this running shoe, which customers were satisfied with.

Comfort

These are very comfortable everyday running shoes that still provides enough stability and support. The Heel Grid System implemented in the heel area of the shoe provides ample cushioning for the heel and is an excellent shock absorber, making each footfall light and supported. The REACT2U foam stretches along the footbed and provides a customized cushioning effect that will accommodate any underfoot. The breathable and lightweight upper has excellent ventilation for a dry and comfortable ride. The toe box is also quite roomy, allowing for a natural toe splay. Customers liked the comfort level this running shoe provided them with for their daily runs as well as everyday use.

Style

Being not much different from the previous model, the Cohesion 11 now includes more color schemes than its predecessor for both men and women. The silhouette of this running shoe is sleek and stylish as well, making it a great choice for runners who like a little style with their running gear and for casual wearers as well.

Durability

This new iteration is remarked by customers as more durable than its predecessor. This can be attributed to the durable rubber outsole, which is very abrasion resistant. The outsole also protects the rest of the shoe from wear and tear, especially the midsole. The upper on the Cohesion 11 is also praised for being more durable than on the previous version. This is thanks to the synthetic overlays, which give structure and support but do not take away from the breathability of the mesh. All in all, customers were left satisfied with the longevity of the shoe.

Protection

The shoe packs a good amount of protection for the runner. The durable rubber outsole ensures a long lifespan and provides excellent traction on both dry and wet surfaces. The midsole features the Heel Grid System, which gives supportive cushioning for the ball of the heel while absorbing the shock of landing, thus preventing injuries. The midsole also features the REACT2U footbed, which molds to each individual’s footshape, providing a customized cushioning support. Customers praised the new Cohesion 11’s upper for being very breathable and durable but also providing protection. Namely, the synthetic overlays combined with the traditional lacing system and padded collar/tongue provide a very supported and stable ride without the risk of the feet moving around or slipping inside the shoe.

Responsiveness

When it comes to responsiveness, runners were satisfied with the amount the new Saucony Cohesion 11 provided in contrast to the previous version. This is mostly thanks to the REACT2U footbed, which molds to any underfoot shape and provides a responsive and supportive cushioning effect for the user.

Support

The new Saucony Cohesion 11 features a good amount of support, thanks to its design and materials. Starting with the Heel Grid System in the heel area of the midsole, it provides a supportive cushioning and helps protect the ball of the heel from the shock of impact. The REACT2U footbed also adds to the overall support of the underfoot by molding to your foot shape and delivering a customized support. The upper is now more durable and structured, thanks to the synthetic overlays present. Together with the lacing system and padded collar/tongue, it provides a snug fit that will keep the feet in place for the whole duration of the run.

Terrain

As a neutral daily running shoe, the Saucony Cohesion 11 is meant to be used indoors, like gyms or on roads and pavements. They are an excellent choice for short distance running or just walking as well.

Price

Customers were pleasantly surprised by the price tag on the new iteration of the Cohesion series. These neutral daily budget running shoes that have sufficient support, stability and is lightweight comes for a very affordable price. Considering all its good qualities and performance, it is a bargain.

Traction

The durable rubber outsole of the Saucony Cohesion 11 has excellent traction, even better than the previous versions, according to customers. Thanks to the Flex Grooves present in the forefoot area, it has an even better grip on the ground, be it dry or wet. However, runners should have in mind that this running shoe performs best on flat surfaces as it is not meant for trail running.

Flexibility

The Saucony Cohesion 11 provides a good amount of flexibility thanks to the Flex Grooves present in the forefoot area of the outsole, which deliver a smooth toe-off since they allow for the natural bending of the toes. The upper also contributes to the flexibility of this running shoe by giving a snug fit and moving with the natural movement of the feet.

Stability

The stability of this running shoe comes from its outsole and upper respectively. The outsole has an excellent grip and traction on the ground and performs well on both dry and wet surfaces. The upper’s construction of mesh and synthetic overlays creates a snug and structured fit, which in turn provide a stable environment for the feet.

Drop

The 12 mm drop on the Saucony Cohesion 11 is higher than the standard 10mm drop, due to the Heel Grid System and the enhanced cushioning, which take away from the responsiveness of this running shoe but provide a well-padded and supported running experience.

  • Bottom Line

The newest iteration of the Cohesion line is a great neutral daily running shoe for those who just started getting into running or even experienced runners who want a good quality running shoe for those low-mileage runs. The outsole is made of a durable rubber material with excellent traction, on dry and wet surfaces alike. Saucony included Flex Grooves into the forefoot area of the outsole for even better grip and enhanced flexibility for toe-offs. The midsole features the Heel Grid System, a supportive cushioning in the heel area, which is a great shock absorbent and provides stable padding for the ball of the foot.

There is also the REACT2U foam footbed for a customized cushioning, which molds to any underfoot shape, thus providing even more support and stability for the underfoot. However, since it is not a stability-leaning running shoe, it cannot correct over or underpronation. The upper is made out of a lightweight and breathable mesh material with synthetic overlays for a structured upper. The laces are standard style laces and the tongue and collar feature some padding for the ankles.

Runners were mostly satisfied with the performance of the Saucony Cohesion 11, however, they noticed a lack of responsiveness, which can be attributed to the higher drop and enhanced cushioning. The price tag and color combinations were a crowd favorite. To sum up, the new version of the Cohesion line is a great quality and performance daily running shoe with excellent durability for those who want to conquer short distance running.
