Editor’s Conclusion
Ever wondered what it would be like to walk on the moon? Weird question right, but just imagine the feeling of being that light on your feet, the feeling of gravity not having such power over your body, and the bounce in your stride.

Let me introduce you to the Hoka brand. Designed by former Salomon employees, they have some serious experience in the field. The oversized outsole is one of the recognizable trademarks of Hoka. It provides a great amount of protection to the sole and exceptional cushioning.

Hoka designs its shoes with bold colors and bold construction engineered to give exceptional performance and a ride that will rock your world, as well as comfort that will make you feel like you're floating. They offer only the best.

Key Features

Comfort

Hiking boots are not even worth a look at if they don’t offer great comfort and the Hoka TenNine’s are made to give you the best comfort possible. Like a bed for your feet, these hiking shoes will not disappoint in this area.

It has a new compression-molded EVA midsole to give you not only stability and impact shock absorption, but also the best ride ever. The wider outsole design is there to provide great traction and a better form of stability.

Materials & Protection

Hoka uses the best materials on its footwear. The Hoka TenNine’s have an abrasion rubber toe cap, perfect for any off-road adventuring that could see you stubbing your toe on any uneven ground. The hiking shoe also benefits from Ripstop textile - another bonus - nothing puts you off shoes that rip at the first sign of some tougher terrains.

I’ve never met a hiker/walker who doesn’t like their walking boots/shoes having GORE-TEX technology; the Hoka TenNine is no different. They utilize GORE-TEX leaf technology in the bootie as well as recycled polyester in the collar, laces, vamp webbing, and heel cup. You're impressed, aren't you? I was too.

Outsole

We all know that the outsole of any hiking shoe is one of the most important features. The outsole doesn't just protect but has a massive impact on the type of transition you will get in every step.

The Hoka TenNines have their trademark Hubble Heel geometry to help the impact the body gets from the continuous encounter with the ground.

The TenNines outsole is made of Vibram litebase construction making them super lightweight and the Vibram Megagrip gives extreme traction, especially with the 5mm lugs these shoes feature.

Design

I mentioned earlier that the Hoka brand is a seriously striking brand and the TenNines are bold and out there. Now, this isn’t to everyone’s taste and you could even argue that they are like marmite - you either love them or hate them.

Me, I really like the Hoka brand. If you’re going out on an adventure then let yourself be seen. They are unique to look at and unique in the technologies that they use. The TenNines have the advantage of coming in three different colors, each as trendy as the other.

Price

Price will always play a factor in whether you purchase a pair of hiking shoes because you will have a limit. The Hoka brand is expensive but they have good reason to be.

Its shoes employ the best materials and technology to ensure the user gets the best, trusted, and continuous use. They don't only look stylish and sleek, but they aren't going to let you down. Any model can be trusted, enjoyed, repeatably used, and will outlast any high price you've paid.

I would purchase a pair of hiking shoes that were quality rather than a cheaper pair that could fall apart, or worse, do my feet damage.

Comparison to Similar Hiking Shoes

There are no other hiking shoes that are quite like Hoka - they are one of a kind. However, I did have a look at 2 other options that you just might like if the TenNines are not to your cup of tea.

Salomon Predict Hike Mid GORE-TEX – these are nice - attractive-looking hiking shoes from an exceptional brand. Like the TenNines, these have a great chunky outsole featuring Contragrip technology. They also have a molded Ortholite sock liner. They differ from the TenNines in price so they might be worth looking into!

Merrell MQM Flex 2 GORE-TEX – Another great brand that offers a lot for the price you pay. The Merrell MQM's are flexible, breathable, and offer an enjoyable ride. They also benefit from FLEXconnect dual-directional flex-grooves to help with ground connection and Merrell Mountain-grade Quantum Grip for that superior traction.

Verdict

There are some superior hiking shoes on the market and brands that have taken hiking technology to a whole new level, and Hoka is one of them.

The TenNine hiking shoe is a beautiful example of what you should expect from a high-performance quality hiking boot. I love the brand; love the design and the great ride you can expect from these hiking shoes.

Personally, the Hoka TenNine’s are worth the price.
