Hell Hole Swamp Gator Run & Walk
|Saturday, May 05, 2012
Jamestown SC 29453
Intersection Hwy 41 and 17A
Large (actual) gator-head trophies will be given to the M/F 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Masters. Smaller gator-head trophies will be given to the M/F under-12, over-75 and five-year age-groups between these two extremes. Medallions will be given three-deep in each of the age groups.
The designs for the t-shirt and medallions will result from a competition in the local middle school, with selections being made by a vote taken at the Bridge Run Expo. T-Shirts will be given to each registrant, and the medallions will be age-group awards.
The finish line will be managed - for the first time ever - by Irv Batten of On the Run in Mt. Pleasant. The results will be more accurate and available faster than ever!
Poem and Parade
A poem will be composed by the Hell Hole Poet Laureate, who doubles as the Race Director, while the runners are on the course. The eight champions will be featured on a float (flat-bed of a pick-up truck) in the Hell Hole Swamp Festival Parade, which will be held immediately following the Award Ceremony.
These taxidermied gator heads are purchased from a gator farm in Florida, which would toss them onto a trash heap. Instead, your gator's head can live in infamy in your trophy case. Their bases are planks from Charleston Heart Pine, and the engraving is wood-burned by hand, thus all ingredients (except for the gator's eyes) are natural.
