Materials

Materials

Materials can make or break a boot which is why you should stop to think about what fabric a pair is made of before you decide to buy it. This boot is crafted from quality materials that are both comforting and long-lasting so you can get the most enjoyment possible from your shoes.

This wing tip is made with a water-resistant suede-leather upper unit that is super breathable so your feet won’t feel hot and sticky. Some fabrics are heavy and can block airflow which will make your feet sweat excessively and once that happens it won’t be long until you’re wearing a smelly pair of shoes! When sweat builds up it makes the perfect breeding ground for odor-causing bacteria, but luckily, leather wicks excess moisture away from the skin.

It offers an EVA midsole that gives you a lightweight and super-bouncy ride, along with a non-slip rubber sole. Rubber is the best choice of material for the outsole of any shoe because it’s extremely long-lasting and gives you the kind of water-resistance that you need in order to be comfortable year round.
Durability

Durability

This wing tip was made to last long and that’s exactly what it does! Its midsole material is one of the longer lasting which means that you won’t have to replace your shoes just because they’ve lost their cushion. Their leather upper is super durable and won't fail you when you need it the most. One of the most durable materials is leather which makes this a great choice for anyone whose tough on their shoes. Its rubber sole helps to extend the wear you’ll get from this pair and keeps you steady on your feet while you’re out and about.
Midsole

Midsole

The midsole is a crucial part of any boot and it plays a critical role in supporting the arch, as well as comforting your feet while you’re wearing them. It’s the part of the shoe inside of the outsole and directly underneath the footbed which means the midsole is what’s going to make a boot feel good (or not so good) on your feet.

This pair offers a bouncy and lightweight EVA midsole that offers superior comfort. EVA is a manmade foam resin material that is noted for its responsive and plush cushioning properties and is able to retain its bounce for longer than other types of foam. This means that you won’t have to replace your boots sooner than you should have to just because they’ve lost their plush interior.

The midsole is a part of what makes a boot supportive and is an important part of protecting the delicate arch area. Proper arch support is a big deal! It lessens the chance of various types of injuries, including arch collapse which can be very painful. The midsole also absorbs shock waves from every step we take which prevents foot pain and lower limb fatigue.

Style

Style

They say that you can tell a lot about a man by the shoes on his feet! Well, the Motion Wing Tip from SWIMS says that you’re one sharp dressed man! Its classic brogue detailing sets this pair off and helps it to ooze with class. It comes in your choice of colorways so you won’t have any trouble matching these hot looking boots with practically anything in your wardrobe. The Wing Tip boot weighs in at 1.3-pounds and has a perfect shaft height of 6 ¼-inches. This shaft height means that they sit nicely above the ankle bone for better protection and even greater style.

Lining

Lining

The lining is often overlooked because people just don’t realize how important it actually is. The lining can have a huge impact on the temperature inside your shoe and can make your feet hot and sweaty. Once this happens your shoes will start to stink because moist material is the perfect breeding ground for odor-causing bacteria. This pair's comfortable fabric lining material is breathable and allows for plenty of airflow inside the shoe. Having adequate airflow will help to keep your skin cool and dry for a more enjoyable experience overall.
Laces

Laces

So you’re probably wondering why I’ve chosen to mention the Wing Tips’ laces, am I right?! Because they’re a big part of its design as a whole. This pair boasts front laces along with D-ring construction at the collar. This makes for an unusually modern look and really sets this pair of boots apart from its competitors.

D-rings are those little ‘d-shaped’ metal rings that secure the laces to your shoe. They’re different than the traditional eyelet which is actually a hole punched into the fabric where the lace is then threaded in to. The Wing Tip was designed with both D-ring and eyelet hardware that make for an on-trend and uniquely obscure appearance.

The metal eyelets run the length of the shaft up until the collar. This is where there are two D-rings on either side which cap off the lacing. Some men found that this design gave them more control over the fit and liked how they could tighten their laces more than they normally could.
Sole

Sole

SWIMS decided on a rubber sole for their Wing Tip and it’s an excellent choice if you ask me! Rubber is water-resistant unlike any other material out there and it offers a solid grip on any surface. Wet and slippery terrain is no match for these shoes textured tread that will hold tight to nearly any surface. Its unique lug pattern is perfect for maneuvering on uneven trails or just for cruising along the city streets.
Footbed

Footbed

The plus side to the Wing Tips’ footbed is that it’s lined with leather. This material will help to control excess moisture and eliminate odors by wicking perspiration away from your skin. As we’ve talked about already, sweaty feet are much more than just uncomfortable, they’re what creates the perfect breeding ground for odor-causing bacteria too! Luckily, the leather lining on the footbed will keep you dryer for longer so you can enjoy wearing this pair all the more.

The downside is that the insole is stationary. This means that you can’t remove it for any reason, not even to wash it! This can be a problem for men who like to use their own inserts, whether they’re orthotic or otherwise because it can be tricky to fit them over top of another insert. Whereas, a removable insole is so much more convenient because you’re able to wash it and replace it whenever you choose.

Price

While al good things must come at a price, some men find the SWIMS Motion Wing Tip a little too pricey. Now, it’s not so expensive that you won’t be able to afford it, but it is a little more expensive than some similar styles available today. You just have to keep in mind that you’re paying a bit more for the quality craftsmanship and superior style that this pair offers. I mean, it looks sophisticated with practically any style of clothing and is a great choice of footwear for all sorts of occasions too!

Colorways

Unfortunately, this pair doesn't come in too many colorways and it’s quite limited with what’s available. You can choose from Gaucho/Olive and Navy/Orange, which aren’t the most exciting options ever. Despite there only being two available colorways, these are fairly easy to style with practically anything in your closet thanks to the neutral shades they come in. These colors look good with basically any other hues and it won’t be too difficult to pair them with all sorts of clothing.

Bottom Line

Overall, the SWIMS Wing Tip is a sharp looking pair of footwear! Its versatile design and modernized take on a classical style make this a must for fashionably dressed men. Some of the more noteworthy aspects are its suede leather upper and unique brogue detailing. The upper unit is water-resistant which makes this a great choice for city living.

After careful research and review, I chose to rate this pair quite high based on several factors including wearability, style, and functionality. These aspects stood out as the key areas worth discussing and helped to rank this boot as well as it did.
