SmartWool Merino 250 Bottom Review
SmartWool is a company that strives to bring great comfort to those who enjoy the outdoors. They started in 1994 by making socks, the founders were avid skiers and were tired of their toes getting cold. They discovered how great Merino wool was, being softer, stronger, and altogether better, than most other fabrics. This helps keep their feet warmer for a long time.
The yarn was so great that they continue to use it in most of their products. They were the first company to incorporate this wool into their ski socks, skyrocketing their company and giving them the jump start they needed to bring us outdoor gear for those who do not want the winter weather to stop their adventures.
The Merino 250 base layer bottoms are just one more of their plethora of products that use this material. They found out what works and stuck with it. They are a great first layer when you are going outside, and it is cold. Do not worry though; they transition well into the warmer weather as the breathability of them will help regulate your body temperate and keep you from overheating.
They are super comfortable; customers love the way they feel against their skin. The biggest problems with them, however, is the high price tag and the inconsistent durability. Some consumers were unhappy with how long the lasted, stating that they started to rip at the seams after on a couple of uses. Overall though they are not a terrible pair of leggings, and most customers who have purchased them fell in love.

They are also going to help protect your skin against irritating chafing while you are out and about. The flatlock seam construction is going to minimize the amount of chafing that will occur from your skin rubbing of the seams of the leggings.
That being said, there are also many consumers who have not had any problems with the durability of the pants. They are made of Merino wool which consists of durable fibers that are not prone to getting holes and tearing easily. Most customers have had no issues, but it is important to note that there were some who had poor experiences when it came to longevity.
The flatlock seam construction is going to help reduce discomfort in the long run by helping prevent chafing and irritation from your skin rubbing against the seams or your legs rubbing against each other. Of course, this is all dependent on you getting the right size for a snug fit; otherwise, you will not get this wonderful experience.
Whether adventuring in the winter weather or transitioning indoors where it is warmer, these leggings are going to keep you cozy. They are going to ensure you are warm enough when you are outdoors, but the breathability will help regulate your temperature and keep you from overheating when you enter the warmer temperature — keeping you comfy wherever you are.
If you aren't sure as to what size you should order then it is recommended that you look at the sizing chart online to ensure you are getting what you need the first time you order to eliminate the need of a return or exchange.
There are only a few colors that you can choose from when ordering. You can pick from black, deep navy, charcoal heather, or olive heather. Some consumers would have liked to have seen some more color options, but that does not seem to be a deal breaker for them.
They have flatlock seams to prevent your skin from rubbing uncomfortable against the materials of the pants which can cause you discomfort or even pain. As long as you get the correct size and they fit you properly then you should have no problems with chafing at all.
The Merino 250 is SmartWool's warmest base layer they have to date, so you are sure to stay warm no matter what you are doing. Hitting the slopes? Are you playing with the family in the snow? Are you hiking up the side of a mountain? Are you jogging in the winter? No problem, start your layers with these leggings, and you will be good to go.
