Skechers Relment-Semego Review
With the tough, yet comfortable Skechers Relaxed Fit Relment-Semego, you can tackle work in a restaurant or opt for tough terrain and go for a hike. The upper of this sneaker is mostly a durable leather with accents of Condura mesh. The mesh is highly breathable and acts as vents to help cool your feet. They also have enhanced tear and abrasion resistance. There is a lacing system with four eyelets and a hook. The top of the tongue and the back of the opening feature pull tabs to make it a little easier to put the sneaker on.
This sneaker is great for restaurant jobs and hiking because it is waterproof. If you’ve ever worked in a restaurant, that will excite you. Whether you’re a dishwasher, server, or bus-boy, you’ve had to deal with sopping wet feet before, I’m sure. Same with you hikers. You’re obviously going to be running into moist conditions unless you’re in the desert somewhere of course. These sneakers will help you when you step in a puddle you didn’t see coming or have to walk in the mud to get where you’re going.
Wherever you decide to wear this sneaker because let’s be honest, you can wear them wherever you please, you will be walking in comfort. Between the leather upper, padded tongue and collar, soft lining, relaxed fit, memory foam insole, a midsole that absorbs shock, and a flexible rubber sole, you’ve got three hundred and sixty-degree coverage.

His first designs were skate shoes and utility boots. The marketing initially targeted the young, “hip” crowd with street shoes that were casual. The first big success for the Skechers brand came in 1993 when they launched the ‘Chrome Dome’. This shoe was made for people of either gender and was a street boot.
It was crafted to look scuffed and well worn. It reflected the popular ‘grunge’ look of the 90s. The inspiration for this design came from stonewashed jeans that were all the rave. This first real hit for Skechers gave them a reputation of being able to keep up with the ever-changing trends in the fashion industry among young buyers.
Skechers got expanded ever further in 1995 when they signed agreements with Signal/American and Genova Incorporated. These licensing agreements were for Skechers to manufacture casual wear for boys and men. They were to focus on comfort and wearability without sacrificing style.
Skechers took its brand overseas in 1997 and began selling their products globally. A womenswear line was finally released in 1998, with funky platform boots and sandals, again targeting the young crowd. The company also then started producing children’s clothing and footwear and ended up becoming successful enough that is was rewarded its own space in Macy's, in New York.
In order to maintain its trendy image, Skechers utilizes celebrity advertising to appeal to the younger crowd. They’ve had people like Britney Spears, The Black-Eyed Peas, Christina Aguilera, etc. featured in their marketing advertisements.
After some time on the market, Skechers decided to push even farther than the original Memory Foam to include features that would better suit unique styles. One of these new technologies is air-cooled Memory Foam. This style enhances breathability, contours to your foot, provides instant comfort, and is pillow soft.
Having a comfortable, supportive insole is important, no matter what, but especially if you’re going to be on your feet for long periods of time, standing on hard surfaces, or have any kind of foot problems such as plantar fasciitis, diabetes, or athletes foot. A good insole will help alleviate pain, discomfort, and fatigue in your feet, ankles, calves, hips, and back-believe it or not.
The midsole in the Skechers Relment-Semego is shock absorbing, which just makes sense for the type of shoe and the purpose it is going to serve. They’re built for hiking, so shock absorption and protection from the terrain is extremely important. This midsole has you covered. This would also be just as important if you wore these shoes for working in a restaurant. There are hazards everywhere, and you’re often walking/standing on concrete when you work in that setting.
If you have any kind of problems with pain and discomfort in your feet or even the rest of your body due to walking or standing, then you will want to pay extra close attention to the support and shock absorption that a shoe provides throughout the entire construction. The midsole is a big contributing factor to overall comfort and support, but the rest of the shoe plays its role as well.
The outsole has the potential to protect you from the elements, pain, discomfort, and fatigue. The outsole of this shoe is made of rubber, and that is a benefit for many reasons. Yes, leather soles can be repaired and replaced when they are damaged or worn out, but wouldn’t you rather have a sole that lasts longer under the pressure you’re going to be putting on them?
Rubber soles are a little flexible but lack the ability to conform to the shape of your foot over time. This could cause discomfort for some, but that can easily be fixed by purchasing a set of cushioned supportive insoles.
Rubber has a lot more grip and traction than leather does, especially when there are grooves cut into it. The traction will come in handy in the workplace because of spills and useful on the trails when things get a little muddy.
The leather used in the majority of the upper provides breathability in a way that no other material is able to. Leather and leather alone is able to absorb moisture from your feet and then expel it as vapor. This means that your shoes won’t be weighed down from wicking up your sweat, and your feet will be kept more dry and cool.
The mesh vents that are featured on the side of the shoe are there specifically for the sole purpose of providing you with some additional airflow. They are small panels with very small weaving so as to not let in outside moisture.
The rubber outsole on this shoe will not do much for you in terms of breathability, but that’s okay because it is made for many other purposes and the rest of this shoe has you covered for airflow.
Skechers would really like to make sure that none of their shoes end up living in a dark closet forever, so they’ve always put a lot of focus on comfort, hence their Memory Foam technologies that have become such a hit so quickly.
The leather upper of this shoe will stretch and conform to the shape of your foot over time, which will leave you feeling like you’ve got a pair of shoes with a customized, secure fit. Its ability to keep you dry and cool will also give you comfort. The soft lining on the backside of the upper will keep the top of your foot from being irritated by seams or the back of the hide.
The tongue and collar of this shoe are padded, which is going to give you additional support, which will, in turn, offer you comfort. If you’re on uneven terrain or racing around at work, you’re going to want your ankles to feel secure and you’re not going to want to deal with irritation from your shoe rubbing against your skin. This padding will help.
Memory Foam gives you instant cloud-like comfort and contours to the shape of your foot. This extra level of personalized fit is going to push the comfort level over the top. Now, if you have foot trouble, you will probably want to consult your doctor about what insoles will best suit your needs.
The rubber soles can protect you from moisture, rocks, sticks, slips, and falls. The leather of the upper can protect you from abrasions and punctures. The padded collar and tongue will help keep debris from getting into the inside of your shoe and irritating your foot.
The leather upper, mesh ventilation system, and air-cooled memory foam are going to work together to protect your feet from pain, discomfort, fatigue, sweat, odor, and bacteria. If you let sweat build up and sit inside of your shoes, that’s when bacteria starts to grow, and that’s when you start having to worry about foot diseases. So, thankfully, these shoes have you covered.
Even if you’re not wearing these shoes to hike the trails, they’re going to provide the same benefits. People who work in restaurants love shoes of this style because they protect them from slipping and falling due to spills or dropped food. You can wear them around the house, to the mailbox, for your morning stroll, to the grocery store, or dinner. They are versatile enough that you can enjoy their benefits wherever you want.
One important thing to remember is that you want to take very good care of your leather products, especially if you’re going to be wearing them often or putting a lot of strain on them. You’ll want to have a regular cleaning routine and you’ll want to leave a few days each week to let them air dry. Make sure you purchase cleaning supplies that are made for your specific material and invest in a soft brush.
