Any shoe with an open upper is obviously going to have more air flowing through it. Breathability of fabrics is also a big concern, though. Even if a shoe is relatively open, lack of breathability in the fabric can make the foot sweat and the fabric become uncomfortable due to it sticking to the skin. Lining that easily lets air in and out of the shoe is part of what makes the straps so great for airflow. In addition to the lining, the crisscross pattern on the upper of the shoe is actually made with a stretchy and woven fabric that is ultra soft. It won’t feel hot on your feet and it won’t rub or pinch
, even at its intersections! The toe and heel straps are made of synthetic leather, Skechers refers to as Duraleather, that is also quite breathable, but also strong. This combination of materials that are working together partnered with the open design makes this shoe a great choice for a hot day
. Flaunt these cute slingback style sandals with your favorite summer dress!
Skechers is a great brand because they are just as much about comfort as they are about trends. When they create a shoe that fits the bill for the hot look of a season, they aren’t just concerned with if it hits all the style points, they’re much more concerned with the shoe practicality. Skechers has grown to be a billion-dollar company. They have created a charity, through their Bobs shoe line
, that helps animals in need. While philanthropy obviously isn’t their main appeal, it sweetens the deal in shopping with Skechers. Communities matter to the brand, as does sustainability, and their ventures in both social and environmental endeavors are due to that fact. Skechers began making logging boots
for men only, but since their idea of footwear has greatly expanded. They now have thousands of styles, so there is sure to be one uniquely perfect for you. The Skechers Light Star-City Escape is the pinnacle of the brand’s approach to footwear. It shows their love for both a shoe that is wearable and one that makes a statement.
Midsoles are key for an insanely comfortable shoe. On this Skecher, there is a supremely supple midsole that is quite thick, one whole inch to be exact. With that kind of substantial padding, you’re going to immediately feel the difference when you slip into this Star-City Escape. The shoe itself is ultra-light, it takes the smallest bit of effort imaginable to kick your feet up in these sandals. The stretchy and supple crisscross straps on the upper of this shoe don’t hit in any uncomfortable or inopportune spots. This style is actually a slip-on, which made me hard to notice at first glance. For a great fit, they put a slingback strap
on this pair of Skechers, and made it out of their duraleather, as mentioned before. This material is not only soft and easy to wear, but it is super resilient. You won’t have any straps breaking or snapping on this. That is why they used the same material on the toe strap. The spots that needed more security and durability are made stronger by using a different fabric entirely. Great for support, this sandal serves up a whole lot of style and comfort.
The dreamy foam of this midsole makes this a very soft shoe. It isn’t soft in that it will squish or flop around on the foot, but the actual textures of the materials and the cushioning are extremely lush. There is so much padding in this sole, so the shoe is going to feel downright amazing on the foot. It won’t be incredibly flexible, however, because it is too thick to really move to its full capacity. The shoe will have plenty of movement and will absolutely work with the foot, but it will still feel quite chunky and solid when walking or standing. The upper has no real structure, though its materials and shape will support itself because it is so light. On this Skechers Light Star-City Escape, there are no hard edges or creases that might prove to be troublesome for the overall feel of the shoe. With an upper that stays flush against the sides and top of your foot and a base that has enough flex to move with you without compromising support, this is a really nice choice for an easy to wear summer sandal
. Just don’t expect its thick heeled wedge style to be as foldable or compact as a flip-flop or flat!
The midsole on this lovely pair by Skechers is only the tip of the iceberg, what we really want to know is why the midsole is so thick and how that helps our feet. Well, it is simple. Heel-to-drop is generally only mentioned when talking about running or walking shoes but it actually is equally important in a plethora of styles. This heel to drop is extremely minimal, in fact, it is only a half-inch in its entirety. Minimal heel-to-drop changes the gait a bit. It alters where your foot strike is. On high heel-to-drops, the structure itself actually forces the foot to move in a certain way and that can alter how your foot strikes the ground. With minimal heel-to-drop, the foot sits almost completely evenly throughout the whole shoe. This creates less impact when you walk. Due to the casual nature of this sandal, you won’t have the same kind of effect as you would in a running shoe. You will feel the difference though here. Overall, the shoe feels more low to the ground. Standing, you will feel quite sturdy regardless of its one-and-a-half-inch wedge. Your ball of foot won’t ache with a few hours of wear
. These shoes are very popular among reviewers and many said that once you slip it on, you will nearly forget you’re wearing it.
Skechers is known for a lot of things. There huge selection of styles is one of them and the other, oddly enough, is their pricing. Skechers makes incredibly affordable shoes that don’t look or feel cheap. Their manufacturing is strong and reliable, yet they come at a price accessible to most people shopping for shoes. Due to their expanded catalog causing a bit of a price boost in certain styles, especially with their popularity rising, but luckily their sandals have remained reasonably priced. This Skechers Light Star-City Escape costs the same as two flimsy pairs of flip-flops, but it looks one thousand times better, and you won’t regret wearing them, as is often the case with thong sandals. If you’re tired of buying cheap fixes to wear on vacation or getting blisters from your slides every time you wear them sockless, it may be as good a moment as any to check out a more practical option like this one. Skechers Light Star-City Escape has a whimsical name and an even more whimsical experience for the wearer, from the purchase itself onward.
Sandals with support are nearly impossible to find. While many have to resort to wearing full coverage shoes or beat up sneakers in the warmer months to be able to get the support they need from a shoe, there are other options. This Skechers Light Star-City Escape is one of them. Besides the thick, plush midsole and the low heel to drop, the footbed is made from the brand’s Yoga Foam. If you have ever stepped on a yoga mat, you know that the material utilized has resistance while still nestling in the spaces between the floor and your feet, keeping you lifted and in luxury even when you’re barefoot. This Skechers Light Star-City Escape has the exact same idea. Not only is the responsive and cushioned Yoga Foam
supportive and structured enough by itself, but additional support is added after which makes it a truly outstanding warm-weather option. On the footbed, specific arch support is added and blended in with the rest of the footbed for comfort. Sandals very seldom good for your feet unless they’re specifically orthotic, so these adorable Skechers are a sweet treat for those who love the heat!
As mentioned, the sole of the Skechers Light Star-City Escape is very soft but what exactly does that mean for the traction? Though these claim to have traction on their outsole, it is hard to see exactly where. It looks like there is some semblance of texture added, especially in the Skechers signature seen on the ball of the foot, but otherwise, they kind of fall flat. If you need a shoe for being poolside, this does not seem like a safe choice at all. A sandal with an outsole added after construction of the shoe rather than a cohesive sole up into the footbed itself would probably be better. That way the insole, and midsole, could provide softness and comfort, while the outsole was hard and textured enough to have great grip. This one-piece design here does not help with the stability of wearing this shoe at all. This could cause a lot of problems for the wearer in less than secure environments
. The bit of texture that can be seen on the Skechers Light Star-City Escape just is not enough to actually function as it should. While sandals don’t need substantial traction for normal wear, a foam base is slippery, to begin with, so it just seems like an unnecessary risk.
When it comes to having support in a sandal, the big names that come to mind are generally heavier shoes, made with leather, cork, and buckles. Those shoes are awesome and have their place, but sometimes you just don’t feel like lugging around heavy footwear. When it's hot and sticky in the summer
, heavy shoes can really make you drag your feet. This Yoga Foam used to create such a supple shoe is incredibly lightweight. The webbing fabric and footbed are also equally incredibly light. This is a shoe that multiple reviewers claimed that they forgot they had on and you can’t really get much lighter than that. For anyone that wants a shoe that is effortless to wear and looks really stylish at the same time, consider looking into Skechers. Their on-trend designs and thoughtful engineering rarely disappoints. No part of this shoe drags the rest down and the strappy design makes it look as light as it feels!
Skechers really went out of their way to make a wildly dreamy sandal for all your summer adventures but that dream doesn’t end with this shoe’s practicality. The upper of the Skechers Light Star-City Escape is super adorable. The crisscross straps
on the upper are super stretchy, perfect for even those feet that are difficult to fit. A carefree look is the staple of this pair of Skechers. On the toe strap and sling-back strap, the fabric is synthetic which gives it a lot of stretch to it. This improves upon the shoe’s slip-on appeal. The appearance of the Duraleather looks like the texture of actual leather. This creates a bit of sophistication for the overall shoe. Contrasting straps and stitched accents on the crisscrossed straps add a couple of fun details that make this shoe even more special than it already is.
Skechers absolutely killed it with this Light Star-City Escape. The adorable upper and flirty contrasting outsole is eye-catching. This footwear gives off a totally lowkey vibe that would be perfect for weekend getaways. While the traction leaves a bit to be desired, there are few negatives to mention when it comes to this pair of Skechers. It is extremely difficult to find supportive sandals that manage to still be fashionable, and these fit the bill while adding wonderful elements such as being lightweight and breathable too. Unless you’re in the market for something with maximum grip potential, these Skechers are a pretty great option for hot, lazy days.
