What was originally the first line of ladies water-wear and hailed from the surf-inspired, Quicksilver, has become an extremely popular brand for ladies around the world. Roxy is now a household name that you’d be hardpressed to find a girl who didn’t know the line. Since their 1990 debut, Roxy has continued to grow in popularity and has expanded to sponsor athletes in professional tournaments and more.

Their Bruna boot somehow fails to impress, with appearances, that is! This boot is an excellent choice for functionality but leaves little to desire from its outward appearances.

The Bruna by Roxy is a basic utilitarian style boot that offers little in the way of fashionability. Its plain appearance won’t do much for your appearance, but if you’re shopping for a pair that’s functional then this is an excellent consideration. These boots offer a lugged outsole that provides superior traction on almost any terrain so you won’t have to worry about any slips or falls. At the same time, Bruna’s cushioned footbed helps to keep you comfortable while you’re on the go. Anyone who prefers a versatile boot will enjoy this pair that offers a convertible fold-down shaft so you can choose between two choices of how to wear them. A soft faux-fur lining material is ideal for keeping you warm and toasty when the weather outside is cold which is why these boots are the ideal choice for fall and winter wear.

Style

Style

This pair is a utilitarian combat style boot. It has a convertible design that lets you fold the shaft down for a versatile style. It’s rather plain in appearances though it does stand out well in the military-like boot section! If you’re shopping for a functional pair of footwear than this is a good choice for you, though if you’re looking for something stylish you might consider shopping around. The Bruna is a very good choice for walking in wet or slippery conditions thanks to its strong traction that will keep you stable on your feet. It offers cotton laces and 'Roxy' logo on both the insole and outsole.
Insole

Insole

These boots have a lightly padded footbed and interior faux-fur lining that helps to make them an enjoyable pair to wear. A cushioned footbed is important for helping to better absorb the shock of impact and can lessen the chance of leg and foot pain when you wear them for a long time. This also helps to protect the delicate arch area of the foot and prevents excess strain in that area. It features a 'Roxy' label on the footbed and is quite comfortable overall.
Oustole

Oustole

The Bruna boot has a deep lugged sole that provides superior traction on nearly any surface. This type of tread is excellent for maneuvering difficult terrain and will keep you stable on your feet even in wet or slippery conditions. It’s made from long-lasting synthetic materials that are able to withstand daily wear and tear with ease and are able to walk on both wet and dry areas without issue. In an attempt to add more personality to this pair it features a 'Roxy' on the outsole.
Accessories

Accessories

The Bruna offers an assortment of accessories that help to make this utilitarian pair even edgier! Its metal grommets give it an army like feel while a rounded cap toe only adds to this persona. This pair’s broad laces are uniquely its own and give off a distinctive vibe that makes others take notice. A statement lugged sole and raised broad-shaped heel is reminiscent of Russia and makes you feel like marching!
Shaft

Shaft

These boots offer a unique convertible shaft that can be rolled down to form a completely different style than when the shaft is upright. When its rolled down, the faux-fur lining is visible which helps to make this pair come off as being a bit more feminine. This is a welcomed change from the normally masculine vibe that this pair oozes. The shaft is approximately 7 ½-inches in height which means it sits midway up the calf for better lower leg protection. This is ideal for colder weather as it will help to keep your calves warmer thanks to the furry lining material.
Heel

Heel

A ¼ -inch stacked block heel makes for a stable ride that’s easy to walk in. A stacked heel looks like it’s made from multiple thin layers of material which are stacked on top of each other. Though, in reality, it’s really just made from one solid piece that gives off that illusion. When the heel is made from a solid piece it’s much more durable than if several pieces are glued together. In that case, it’s easy for the glue to come apart which causes the materials to separate and can ruin your pair of shoes. Stacked heels offer the same kind of structure and comfort as a wedge heel and are much easier to walk on than a thin heel. Stiletto’s for example, are extremely difficult to walk in, whereas a block heel feels quite natural.
Lining

Lining

This pair of boots offers a plush and cozy faux-fur lining material that will keep you warm during colder weather. This super-soft lining is derived from 100% animal-free products so vegan wearers can breathe a sigh of relief! Faux-fur mimics the real deal which means these boots are going to offer a warm and comforting environment for your feet during the fall and winter months and helps to make these boots appropriate for wearing while it snows.
Versatility

Versatility

The most versatile part of this boot is its convertible fold-down shaft! That makes for a nice change and lets you style it the way you prefer. It also adds a more feminine touch to this otherwise, masculine silhouette. When it’s in its folded position it shows off the faux-fur lining as opposed to the rather drab appearance when it’s raised. Its imitation leather upper unit is a good choice for both rain and snow which gives it a nice adaptability.
Colorways

Colorways

Despite Bruna’s desire to come off as a military-like pair, it still lacks in the way of colors! This pair comes in your standard dark hues like black and brown but leaves little in the way of excitement with its plain-Jane colorways. If you’re looking for your basic boot with little-to-no pop of color than the Bruna is a good choice for you! But if you like a little more pizzaz from your shoes than you might consider something else instead.
Fit

Fit

These boots look like they would offer a roomy toe box, but in reality, it’s quite the opposite! Most wearers find that the toe area fits quite snug and often need to order a half-size larger to compensate. The reason behind the narrow forefoot could have to do with the faux-fur lining that makes the boot feel smaller than it actually is. So consider opting for a larger than normal size if you’re feet are anything but dainty and narrow.
Bottom Line

Bottom Line

Overall, the Bruna lacks in visual appearance but is a good choice for anyone in search of a utilitarian style boot. It offers a good line-up of features geared towards work or other manual labor and will hold up well under daily wear and tear. In terms of appeal, this boot lacks anything that meets the eye and comes off as quite a boring choice.

It really boils down to what you’re looking to get out of your boots. If it’s fashion, you should consider searching elsewhere! These boots offer a lugged outsole that provides a solid grip on almost any terrain so you can certainly wear them for almost any outdoor activity.

You should consider this pair for colder weather because its plain colorways include dark hues and its faux-fur trim would get a little uncomfortable in the spring or summer.

Despite its fairly boring exterior, this boot does try to spice things up with some accessorizing. Things like metal grommets and cute clips to attach the shaft when it's folded help to add some personality. It also has 'Roxy' logos on the outsole and footbed.
