Did you know that the Hunter boot company is part of the Royal warrant holders association? That’s right, the members of the British Royal family are some of the many loyal customers and you’ve probably seen some of the Royal members wearing the boots in public.

They use them when they go for walk or when they go hunting. However, the first model of the iconic Hunter boot was introduced in 1956. Each boot is handcrafted and assembled from 28 different parts and its perfect shoe to wear outdoors, especially in places where plenty of mud or wet soil.

The fashionable ladies that attend the Coachella music festival can’t be caught dead without a pair of Hunter boots and they have been known as a casual statement choice to the fashion-forward celebrities like Kate Moss and Siena Miller.

They’re part of the British history, but they’re slowly transitioning in the mainstream areas. And what better way to explore this famous brand than with the classic original tall rain boots?

Outsole

Outsole

The outsole is made from rubber just like the rest of the shoe structure. It has the distinction to match the color of the upper and therefore to blend it with the rest of the boot. Keeping up with the tradition, the outsole of the boots is made with the recognizable and well-loved Hunter Original tread pattern, and it’s something that’s never changed in the shoe’s decade’s old history. Tradition is very important when manufacturing the design, so there have been very few changes in the making of the boots, especially in the making of the outsole.
Midsole

Midsole

Things were kept very simple in the making of the midsole, and it showed in the very simple yet supportive design. The multilayered sponge insoles in the midsole of the boot, ensure that the cushioning is underfoot and done in a very comforting way to the foot. The sponge offers support to the arches of the foot and it provides a great deal of comfort while walking in very uncomfortable terrain areas.
Upper

Upper

Made with a waterproof, vulcanized rubber, the upper is the most impressive part of the boot. The height of the footwear measures 15 inches making it to the knee length type of boot. It’s best that you wear them with socks or any other type of clothing, but there is a great deal of lining in the inside of the boots that provides friction and blister protection. The nylon lining within the boots offers wick moisture to vapor and the shoes to dry very quickly.

Because of the waterproof materials and the nylon lining your feet will remain dry even in the dampest conditions imaginable. A great additional function is the slip-on nature of the design accompanied by classic buckles. The buckles on the back of the boots allow you to tighten and secure the boot tops in every possible situation. They won’t be tempted to slide down and cause you to discomfort if you chose to buckle the boots tightly at the very top.
Support

Support

Because of the 15in, the support reaches from your ankles to above your knees in most cases. The classic buckles at the top make sure that the boots are secured and fixated properly on your legs, while the nylon lining takes care of the wicking properties of the shoe.
Durability

Durability

The natural rubber used to manufacture them adds great support and ensures the durability even in the most horrible conditions. Because they’re meant to be worn in very unorthodox situations and in terrain that’s filled with water, mud and high levels of moisture they’ll be durable even after a prolonged time spent wearing them in such weather. They are fully waterproof and perfect for the ladies that love adventures out on the open. They’re suitable for the ladies that accept challenging weather and that simply won’t allow a bad rain to ruin their outings in the nature.
Flexibility

Flexibility

Just like in the durability section, the Hunter Original excels in the flexibility portion of the requirements. The all natural vulcanized rubber found in the entire body of the boots is extremely flexible and can bend at will. You’d be surprised by the flexibility that these boots have when faced with a challenge to cross a terrain that wouldn’t be crossed with any other type of shoes. They can get to all the knocks and crannies of several types of surfaces like no other boot can, and the fact that they’re waterproof is another great feature that adds to the quality of the boots.
Stability

Stability

The rubber outsole and the rubber upper of the boots provide much of the stability to the foot, but it would be a shame if the original buckles on the top of the shoe aren’t mentioned in the stability portion of the review.
Airflow

Airflow

Because they’re entirely made out of leather, the only airflow that is worth mentioning is in the nylon lining of the insole. It helps with the wicking properties, the let the vapor escape and along with it, the odor and the excess moisture that will accumulate after wearing the boots.
Terrain

Terrain

There’s a reason why you’re seeing mud on the celebrities’ feet. They’re made to be worn in very slippery, wet and unstable terrain. The rubber keeps the feet stay waterproof and the height of the upper prevent the water and the mud to get on to the feet.
Traction

Traction

You’ve probably noticed the thick rubbery ridges that occupy the thick outsole. There’s a purpose to them as well and it’s to take care of the traction in the unstable surfaces. It’s very easy to slip and fell in a mushy puddle of mud, but it would be much more difficult if you’re wearing the Hunter Original rainboot. The vulcanized leather and those special ridges on the bottom of the shoe grab to every surface and don’t let go. You’ll be feeling much more secure and supported in the very unstable terrains if you have these boots on you.
Style

Style

What’s the best way to describe the style inherent in this design? Very posh, very English and very simple. One might say that they were made out of necessity but that still remains to be prover. However, there’s no denying that the weather in Great Britain is not that great, and it’s would be safe to assume. They were made in Great Britain because the people needed special footwear that can handle the rainy British weather. Maybe they were made out of necessity, but a lot of love and careful planning was invested in developing the style present. If you take a good look at the style of the booths, you’ll notice the shiny finish of the rubber and the complicity of the design.

No embellishments, no added colors and no other detailing that would ruin the simplistic nature of the boots. First of all, if you put any embellishing on the upper, it would immediately be covered in mud and dirt, and it would become much harder to be seen. Secondly, why would you put any embellishment on a rubbery shoe? The style would be all wrong and they’d lose the practicality and the simplicity that they’re famous for. No, decades and decades of that same simple style has been quite enough to make them in demand and highly sought after. They still look great and they’re still practical as ever. Whether you chose the classical green, black or Grey or you’d be more adventurous and go with a modern pink, yellow or purple color it’s up to you.

Bottom line

The old saying goes… if it’s isn’t broke don’t fix it. Well, these have been perfect just the way they are, and there’s no need to fixing them. The company has been experimenting with the various color options, but the model, the design, the style and the technology that was put into making them has been the same for more than six decades now. Made from strong and waterproof vulcanized rubber upper and outsole, this design has been a staple in almost every household. The Queen of England has a pair and the unknown hardworking shepherd in France has a pair of them. They’ve been a constant companion for many generations, especially in the rainy and cloudy Great Britain and recently they’ve gained momentum as a style accessory to the younger generations.

The multilayered sponge insoles ensure maximum protection to the feet, and the classic buckles located and the back of the upper are there to ensure stability and comfort in every situation. Flooding in your storage or maybe leaking faucet in your bathroom is your problem. Or is it something more lovely and pleasant like a walk to the countryside on a rainy autumn evening? They’ve got you covered. There’s no way that these boots get in the way of your day to day life or to let you down in any way. This design has proven to be a best friend in your hour of need, but they’re also great for everyday activities. Whatever you choose.
