Emu Pioneer Review
The Emu Pioneer ankle booties are going to be a welcome addition to anyone’s wardrobe. They have the classic Chelsea look that many customers adore. The beautiful suede upper is lined with authentic Australian Merino wool to ensure your feet stay cozy and warm all day long. These boots are waterproof from the uppers to the soles so you do not have to worry about getting caught in the snow or rain, your feet will stay dry and the suede will stay safe. Coming in a couple different colors some customers have opted to purchase more than one pair so they could pair them with even more of their outfits.
As they are wool lined they are more designed for winter wear. One issue that some customers have experienced with these boots is that they do have some durability issues and can suffer from premature wear and tear after only a couple of months. This does not happen to everyone but it is something to keep in mind when making the purchase. Overall, though, they are a great pair of boots that customers love.
- Warm Merino wool
- Exceptionally comfortable
- Waterproof suede upper
- Great classic look
- Many color options
- Durability issues
- Needs breaking in
The midsole also comes equipped with a metal shank to help with stability. If you are one of the thousands of people around the world that have problems with overpronation or supination then you are in luck, these boots are going to give you that little bit of extra stability that you will need while you are on the go. There are not a whole lot of fashionable boots on the market that has this great stability feature so it is much appreciated that these ones do.
These boots also have a stacked block heel. It is stacked with leather inside the heel to give you a little bit of extra comfort there while you are walking. The heel is just under an inch so it is not going to give you a lot of extra height, but most customers have no complaints about that. The heel is the perfect height to give you a little bit of extra cushioning in the back of your foot as well as help prevent some of the wear on the sole that will occur in the heel area.
Most of the durability issues stem from the outsole, most specifically, the heel of the boots. The rubber that covers the leather stacked heel will start to peel off after a couple of months. One reviewer said that you could fix that easily enough with shoe glue or super glue, but that is not something that a lot of people would want to do after spending their money on what they thought was going to be a great and long lasting pair of boots.
One mistake that some customers have made is ordering a half size bigger than normal thinking that they are going to want to wear thick socks with them to keep their feet warm. If you are thinking about doing this, keep in mind that the wool lining is designed to keep your feet warm and toasty so you run the risk of your feet overheating if you are wearing thick socks. Some customers did this and then they were stuck with boots that were a little too big.
Something to note about these boots, however, is that they are going to feel a little stiff and firm when you initially put them on but they will loosen up after a day or two. It can be a little aggravating having to break in a pair of boots but once they are broken in they are exceptionally comfortable as they will mold to your feet giving you personalized comfort that is perfect for you.
They come in a couple of fun colors so you can choose something that is going to fit your style and personality the best. You have your classic color choices, like black, gray, and tan, but they are also available in fun seasonal colors like burgundy and claret. No matter what color you choose to go with they are going to be a welcome addition to your wardrobe.
Not only will they keep your feet dry but it is also going to help eliminate odor because you will not have to worry about your stinky sweat seeping into the wool lining and causing unpleasant smells that will stink up the place when you take your boots off after a long day.
The removable insole has a decent amount of cushioning that will mold to your feet after a couple days of wearing them so they will be able to provide you with a decent amount of arch support. If you find that it is not enough support that it is fairly easy to remove this insole and add one that might fit your needs better. Additionally, there is a stability bar incorporated into these boots that will help give you a little bit of extra support for those who have the tendency to overpronate or supinate.
