We all know of Adidas, of course. One of the biggest and most respected footwear companies in the world. But the topic of this review is Adidas arkyn knit sneaker. A shoe model from the so-called „Originals section“ of the Company. But that does it mean? What does Adidas Original stand for and what does it represent?

Well, to put it simply, Adidas Originals is a subsidiary of Adidas that deals in casual sports clothing. The Adidas Originals brand uses the famous Trefoil logo, which was originally used on all Adidas products until the 1997 and Adidas Originals covers sports fashion styles with strong references to the decades between the 1940s to 1980s.

Back in the 90’s Adidas divided the brand into three main groups with each a separate focus: Adidas Performance; Adidas Originals and Style Essentials. Adidas Performance focused on athlete’s performances, Adidas Originals focused on the retro designs of the past decades, and Style Essentials, which dealt with the huge fashion market.

But for now, let’s focus on one particular Adidas Originals model. The Adidas arkyn knit sneaker.

Editor's Pros & Cons
Pros

Regular fit

Lace closure

Knit textile upper with a neoprene heel

Responsive Boost midsole

Cons

Limited colorways

Outsole

Outsole

The outsole of the Adidas arkyn knit may look like your regular outsole, but it’s some much more than that. Yes, it’s made out of the regulars and very dependant rubber, but there’s a catch there. If you take a closer look, you’ll notice something in the back of the outsole. A neoprene heel at the heel area of the outsole that will ensure the perfect grip when you’re putting the shoes on and when you’re taking them off. It’s nice to be able to grab something at the back of the shoe, without risking damaging the outsole or the upper with your hands. No, the neoprene heel at the back of the outsole offers nice grip of the sneaker and great deal comfort even when the feet are on their way to the inside of the sneaker.
Midsole

Midsole

Say hello to the true star of the sneakers. The Boost technology that’s been inserted within the midsole. And what is the boost technology you might ask? Well, Adidas first introduced the Boost technology in 2014 and since then has dominated the running portion of the Adidas sneakers. As the name suggests, the Boost technology in the midsole gives your legs a real bust and return of energy that you’ve expended while running.

Adidas arkyn knit has that Boost technology in the midsole, and it’s become the sneakers pride and joy. Yes, there are plenty of cool features in the Adidas arkyn knit, but the Boost technology is probably the most important one. It’s directly responsible for the comfort and stability of the feet, and it will keep your feet rested after a long time on the treadmill
Upper

Upper

Ah, the upper. Always the first thing that catches the eye of the consumer. Whether it is the design of the colors used in the making of the upper, the upper is the first to be noticed. But over here in the Adidas arkyn knit there’s plenty to be noticed. First, there’s Knit textile upper topped with a neoprene heel. The knit textile upper hugs almost the entire surface of the upper and only small part at the back of the sneaker is made from a different set of materials. Oh and that heel neoprene heel mentioned before has the responsibility to hold the interesting lacing system in place. Because they aren’t any visible lace holes in the upper, small textile strings that are fixated in the upper hold the shoelaces, while an adjustable toggle closure ties them up at the tongue of the sneakers. Pull tab at the rear helps matter much, and there’s the fantastic sock like the opening of the shoe, that many customers have praised on the official website. It’s also worth mentioning that the shoelaces share the same color as the color that’s prominent in the upper, and the blend in the surroundings nicely without any problem.
Comfort

Comfort

One of the few notable things that the customers have left in their reviews is the fact that the Adidas arkyn knit is not only suitable for running; it’s great when you’re traveling as well. It would make those TSA lines a lot less stressful and your bad experiences at the airport a thing of the past. The sneakers have a lot of comfort, and they’re easy to put on and off at moment’s notice. They don’t require lacing-up, and because they have a sock-like opening they’re much more convenient than the regular sneakers. The comfort isn’t just provided from the materials used in the making of the sneakers. In a lot of ways, the comfort comes from the design of the sneakers. The fact that there is no tongue and classical opening, the comfort is magnified in these sneakers, and the entire lacing system adds to the comfort as well.
Support

Support

The Boost technology in the midsole is a truly fantastic addition to the overall quality but mostly for the support that every runner desperately needs. The boost technology gives energy returns and boosts your legs in a more relaxed way. Basically, the midsole gives back the energy that you spent during your physical activity and keeps your feet healthy at all times. But aside from the Boost midsole, there isn’t that much to be said about the support. For instance, the upper is fairly week and it doesn’t allow more support to be given to the foot, form the top part of the sneakers. The only source of support is the midsole and in small doses the outsole of the sneakers.
Durability

Durability

Yes, the durability is quite decent in the Adidas arkyn knit, but just like the plenty of the customers praised the support of the Boost midsole, many of them had complaints about the toe protector. Apparently, the toe protector came off fairly quickly, and it had to be glued back by the customers. The toe protector was the first thing that was damaged on these sneakers, and it was a real chore to be put back in the original place.
Flexibility

Flexibility

If the durability was not up to the satisfactory level, the flexibility sure is. And flexibility comes from many places. The fantastic rubber outsole is lightweight and highly flexible, and so is the Boost midsole. But most of the flexibility can be found in the knit upper. Made almost entirely from synthetic materials, the upper can bend like no other. Seriously. You can bend the entire sneaker almost in half and it won’t damage the surface of the upper.

The flexibility was one of the key points that were singled out among the fans of the sneaker, and many of them loved the fact that the sneakers contain flexibility that great. But aside from bending; the flexibility that these shoes provide is beneficial for the overall health of your feet. Think about it. If the upper is very stiff and restricting the movement within the upper, your feet will suffer the consequences. Pain will begin to appear, blistering and possibly other injuries. No, it’s always better to leave room for the foot to sit nicely within the shoe, and Adidas made the perfect sneaker solely for that.
Stability

Stability

The stability is one of the very few flaws that Adidas arkyn knit sneakers have, and you can blame that knit upper for that. Of course, the fact that the midsole and outsole are highly flexible and soft might add to the problem, but the upper is the main culprit for the lack of stability in these sneakers. Because there is high flexibility in the upper, the stability of the shoes begins to suffer. The knit material used in the upper isn’t firm enough to support the sneaker and to enhance the stability of the shoe. The week knit upper topped with the lack of tongue, makes for one severely unstable shoe.
Airflow

Airflow

However, the airflow shouldn’t be too much of a concern in the Adidas arkyn knit sneakers. Because the majority of the sneaker is made out of textile knit, and contain a mesh lining, there is a significant portion of aeration and airflow that goes in and out of the sneakers. The high dose of aeration will ensure that your feet are kept dry, odor free and properly aerated.
Brand

Brand

Adidas Originals are responsible for preserving the past. It’s basically one of the most important subsidiaries of the Adidas Company and it covers fashion styles that are heavily influenced by one of the most important decades in the company’s history.

The Adidas arkyn knit is one perfect example of that distinct blast to the past inspiration. It contains retro feel to the style but upgraded with the latest trends in modern day technology. But the Adidas Originals is all about conservation and revival of the past style that was influenced and beloved among the consumers. Nostalgia plays a big factor in the designs, but the Adidas Originals has been doing that revival nicely for years now, and it paid off. The Adidas arkyn knit are one of the most in-demand models from the Adidas Originals merchandise, and you’ll fall in love with them at first sight.
Style

Style

Inspired by vintage running styles, the Adidas arkyn knit has the past by its side and the retro vibe is present in practically every part of the sneakers. The outsole, the upper is most notably inspired by past designs, but now perfected with modern technology.

Bottom line

The Adidas arkyn shoes are inspired by the past, but brought to the present with the technology that prides itself on being rewarding and innovative. The Boost technology has been present in plenty of Adidas Originals models, but now it’s been implemented to provide the ultimate running experience. The liberal amount of Boost cushioning has really upped the quality and you can really feel that cushioning after you’ve worn the sneakers for a prolonged amount of time. The lightweight mesh upper provides a sock-like fit while the adjustable toggle closure is put in the sneakers for a more custom fit. The neoprene heel is inserted for added durability and there’s no way of ignoring the rubber outsole. It’s simple and practical and it pairs nicely with the knit upper.

Many of the customer reviews on the official webpage have praised the light feel that these sneakers give to the foot, and of course, the Boost midsole that works wonders for your feet. But the Adidas arkyn knit successfully managed to raise the bar of quality and the end result of that is one fantastic sneaker that will serve you nicely for a long period of time. It doesn’t matter if you’re a professional runner or running is more of a hobby, the sneakers will become your most trusted ally.
If there’s something negative to be said about these sneakers is the absence of a tongue and a normal lacing system. Yes, there is a different set of laces, but the tongue is very much needed in providing a better grip. The sock-like opening of the sneakers allow a more practical way of putting the sneakers on and taking them off, but the knit upper doesn’t allow for more stability and firm presence of the upper on the foot.
