March 2010

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Spring is almost here, but until we see that first nice day, we've still got snow and cold to deal with. Don't worry; we have treadmill workouts for that. Planning on running a marathon this year? Don't miss approaching registration deadlines. Still wondering if you're able to train for one? Use one of our training plans.

Has "Snowmageddon" affected your training?

Massive snowfalls in the Midwest, East Coast, and even snow in the South, may have put a damper on your training. Weather like this generally means it's time to take your workout inside. Get your hill training in during the cold days of "Spring" by doing this hill workout on the treadmill.

Fall Marathon Registration Guide

Yep, it's time to think about Fall already. If you're thinking about making 2010 the year you run a marathon, let WalkJogRun help you out.

Beat Registration Caps

Get Training Plans on Your Phone

To help you further achieve your racing goals, we've developed training programs available for the iPhone or iPod Touch.

We've partnered with Coach Jenny of Runner's World fame to develop customizable training plans for your iPhone or iPod Touch. Choose from 23 different plans to run a 5k, 10k, half marathon or full marathon . Each plan is available in beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. New to running? We've got a Run Your First 5k plan.

Push notifications and badges:  Receive morning pop-ups telling you what your plan has you doing for the day and get badges on the app icon as well as in the app to show you today's training.

Find routes feature:  While using the training plan on the app, you can find routes in your area that coincide with the day's training.

Daily tips: One of Jenny Hadfield's tips accompanies each day's plan

Recent Website Updates

The newest set of updates to the site include a little shuffling of the navigation so it's all consistent across the top now, some tweaks to the overall styling of the site AND huge changes to the Groups section (which you can now find in that top level nav). Groups are a great way for running groups (or organizations or school teams or your neighborhood walking group - you get the idea) to share any number of routes with their members so they're all on the same page. For a great example, check out the Chicago Endurance Sports running group page.

We'll be adding more new features in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!

Connect with WalkJogRun

Recently we asked fans to finish this sentence: You know you're a runner when…

… you go out in the rain, ice and snow!
… on a 30-day hike you're trying to mentally calculate your tempo speed
…you plan your day and holidays around races.
… you live in an ice cave and shave your legs, and your dog gets excited    when you reach for the Vaseline jar.
