We've been busy working behind the scenes to make WalkJogRun faster from the ground up but we added two new features recently to improve your experience when you use WalkJogRun. The first new feature is the ability to use the scroll wheel on your mouse to zoom in or out when you are looking at a map. If you have a scroll wheel simply move it away or toward you while the cursor is hovering over the map. As you scroll the wheel you will see a red frame appear over the map showing the area the zoomed map will cover.
The other update is the loading image which appears when the site is doing something. When the site is under significant load you may experience a lag between moving, zooming or searching the map and any pins appearing. We added the loading image to give you some indication that the site is still working.
We're already working on streamlining the navigation to make it easier to find things but we need your help to decide which of the following two features we should build first. Why? Well honestly, because we do this in our spare time and there is only so much we can do before our wives start geting on our cases, so we figure if you help pick the features, we'll be making most of you happy! This time around your choices are:
Adam ran the San Diego marathon at the beginning of June and developed a pain in his left foot. He discovered that it was peronial insertional tendonitis and his blog posts since then were all focussed on his recovery and how he was able to get around it.
We keep track of lots of numbers about the site here for different reasons. Some statistics let us know how much you love the site, others tell us which features you are using and some are just fun to see, like this one. There have been 85,247 routes added since the site was born 2 years ago and here are the top 4 cities in the world based on number of routes contributed. You can always keep tabs on your own city on the Cities Page. If you don't see your city listed, let us know and we'll add it.
We’ve had a lot of feedback this month from visitors who want to be able to print the maps they make. Unfortunately Google's license prevents us from solving the problem at this point but we do have a workaround for you. One way around it is to view your route and take a screenshot which you can then print.

It's not ideal but it may help.
WalkJogRun has attracted considerable attention in the past but in the last few months it has intensified.
Back in May Lennie Magida at the Washington Post wrote a great article describing how to use WalkJogRun in detailed steps before introducing some other tools.
Next Erik Mika from Popular Science put a 5 point checklist together "Five things you didn't know you could map" featuring WalkJogRun on page 89.
Most recently Sree Sreenivasan at WNBC in New York featured the site as part of a Google mashup roundup piece. Unfortunately, the segment showed the site as WalkJogRun.com instead of WalkJogRun.net but thankfully the online resources listed it correctly.
If you've seen WalkJogRun mentioned somewhere - let us know!
