February 2009

The Luck of the Irish

We have a lot of things going on this month. First, there's Chicago's Shamrock Shuffle, then Adam's trip to Ireland, and finally our first contest! You'll have a chance to win one of three iPod Nano and Nike Sport Kits! We also have great news on the website development front - we're beta testing a WalkJogRun.net iPhone application!

And as always, if you're having any trouble reading this email try viewing it in your browser.

Shamrock Shuffle in Chicago, Illinois

One of our very own WalkJogRun.net team members is running Bank of America's Chicago Shamrock Shuffle as her very first race! On Sunday, March 29, the run will begin down by the lake, continues through a portion of the Loop, and finishes back down by the lake. In case you haven't checked out the route already, here it is: Shamrock Shuffle route.

Dress in green and run one of these St. Patty's Day Races:

Poznan Half Marathon

Also on March 29, 2009 is the Poznan Half Marathon in Poland. Race organizers have already mapped the route on WalkJogRun.net.

Poznan has many sites to see while running around the town. There are four lakes within city borders, the Gothic Cathedral, museums, and botanical gardens.

Adam's trip to Ireland

Adam and his wife had the luck of the Irish on their side when they won a trip to Ireland this March. They'll be staying in Dalkey (current residence of Bono and The Edge) from March 28 to April 6. So if you'd like to meet the brilliant creator of WalkJogRun.net and to get to know him (and he you) over a pint, drop Adam a line at Adam@WalkJogRun.net

Adam also has a 20-mile run planned during his trip. If you have any suggestions on where to go and sights to see during his run, let him know!

South by Southwest 2009

In case you didn't know, we're kind of techies over here, so needless to say, we wish we were going to this year's SXSW. However, if you're going and want to meet fellow WJR users, you can ask around using our community page. If you get a group together, send us some of the details and we'll send you some fancy buttons with our logo on them so you can sport WJR pride.

If you get a little downtime away from all the fun, check out this 5-mile run downtown that was created by one of our users.

New at WalkJogRun.net

We know you've been just as anxious as all of us at WalkJogRun.net, but the iPhone application is (almost) here!

If you have an iPhone and would like to be a part of this exciting event, you can help us beta test the first version - just let us know! We'd like 100 users to test this for us.

And finally...

If you can't wait until next month's newsletter to see what's happening over here, keep up-to-date on site happenings on our Facebook fan page, or follow us on Twitter! You can also access these from the Community page on our site.

Advertising available

As always we're looking for advertising partners for the site and the email we send out (yep, just like this one). This email now goes out to just over 21,000 walkers, joggers and runners approximately once per month. If you would be interested in buying ad space in this email please let us know.

Tell us your story for a chance to win an iPod Nano + Nike Sport Kit!

What's nano in size, iPod in name and all yours if you win this contest? An iPod Nano and a Nike Sport Kit! Thanks to our dear friends at BradsDeals.com, we are giving an iPod Nano and a Nike Sports kit to the top three contestants.

What do you have to do? However you'd like to tell us -YouTube video, blog, audio recording, etc. (or just reply to this email) - we'd like to hear your story of how WalkJogRun.net has helped you train, stay healthy, begin running, or had an impact on anything else in your life. The deadline for entries is March 25th, so you've got 4 weeks to get creative. We'll notify the winners and announce them in April's newsletter. So, runners take your mark (har-har) and start your story today!

Send us your story!
