Congratulations! You have made an exciting step to an exciting endurance challenge! This program is designed for those with little running experience. The goal is to have you gradually build up your running distance while staying injury free. Depending on the training program you have joined, you will graduate with a race! Half Marathon training includes your entry to Run 4 Shelter Half Marathon on 9/8/12. Full Marathon training includes your entry to the Marine Corp Marathon on 10/28/12.
You will be guided by an RRCA certified running coach and receive a weekly coach's newsletter packed with information by professionals in the fields of NUTRITION, MASSAGE, STRENGTH TRAINING, INJURY PREVENTION AND RECOVERY and many other runner specific topics. You will train with others with the same goals - even the same race, which will give GREAT motivation for those early morning runs. Our weekly group training will take place on the Cross Island Trail starting in front of the old Club One site as well as speed work at KIHS. (You will also be required to complete on your on mid-week training runs.) You must be a KIRG registered member to participate in these training programs. In addition to your training, membership and race entry, you will also receive a training shirt and many new friends to join you on your journey.
