Additional Information

History

This is a new event for this area put on by the folks at the NCSU Veterinary School to benefit the IRONDOG, a new charity established for veterinary patients which raises funds through endurance events. You can find more information on the IRONDOG NC chapter on Facebook.

Competitive vs Recreational

Entrants in the 5K have a choice of entering as competitive entrant or a recreational entry. Competitive entrants will receive a chip and an official time and be eligible for awards. Recreational entrants will not receive an official time, but will be able to see their finishing times on a digital clock at the finish line.

Dog Walk

In addition to the 5K, there also will be a 1-Mile Dog Walk. Times will be displayed on the digital clock at the finish line. NOTE: Dogs are not allowed in the 5K

Entry Fees/T-Shirts

The entry fee for the 5K is $25, increasing to $30 after February 15. The fees for the Dog Walk are $20 and $25, respectively. T-shirts are guaranteed to all those registered by February 15.

5K Awards

In the 5K awards will be presented to the first male finisher overall, to the first female finisher overall, and to the top three finishers in each of the following age groups (both sexes): 12-under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60-over. Awards will also be presented to the first male and female veterinarians to finish as well as to the first male and female student to finish who are attending the NCSU Vet School. The top finishers will get gift certificates to Inside-Out Sports.
