Distance
600 yard lake swim / 12.0 mile bike/ 5K run
The Swim
The James Island Park boasts a 10 acre freshwater lake that creates the perfect environment for a well-protected 600 yard swim. There will be a multi-wave start, with wetsuits allowed (except in the Open/Elite Division), though not necessary.
The Bike
The 12.0 mile bike course includes approximately 3 miles inside the Park. CSTS is a NO DRAFTING EVENT.
The Run
The 5K run is contained within the Park and is on asphalt roads and bike paths. Parts of the run course are shaded.
Directions
To reach the James Island County Park from Charleston take Folly Beach Road, cross over the Wappo Cut Bridge and take Maybank Hwy to the right. Proceed out Maybank 2.5 miles to Riverland Rd., take a left onto Riverland Rd. The Park is approximately 2 miles down Riverland on the right. There are signs for the Park on Riverland & Maybank.
Please Note
All Participants must wear an approved, undamaged and unaltered helmet, which meets or exceeds the safety standards of the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), American National Standard Institute (ANSI Z-90.4) or SNELL (ASTM F-1446) and (ASTMF-1447) and be responsible for the safety of their own bicycle.
Additional Information
Race Management reserves the right to alter the course or change the scope of this event, if in their opinion circumstances dictate. There is only one T-shirt design for the series. There is no Team competition.
Open/Elite
The Open/Elite division is restricted to those who have finished in the top 20 overall in a Triathlon. Open/Elite entrants are guaranteed placement in the first wave and specially designated transition area. Wet suits will NOT be allowed in the Men's and Women's Open/Elite Division. If you enter the Open/Elite Division, you will not be eligible for age group awards.
Athena/Clydesdales
Clydesdale (under age 40), Masters Clydesdales (over age 40) and Athena divisions: Awards will be given for the top 3 in these divisions. Clydesdale/ Athena divisions will not be eligible for age group awards. The Athena Division is for Women over 150 lbs. & the Clydesdales Division is for Men over 200 lbs.
