On May 26th, 2012, we are having our 1st annual Someone Special Like Me 5K. The race will benefit “Someone Special Like Me”,a nonprofit organization created to provide appropriate recreational activity for children with special needs. All proceeds will be used to build a Fun Center that will serve all children with special needs from birth to 17. The 5K is a run and a walk, so runners and walkers of all skill levels are invited to take part in the event.

Starting Times
The Kid's dash starts at 8:00 am and the 5K begins at 8:30 am.
Registration Fees/T-shirts
The entry fee for the 5K is $15 on or before May 16th, $20 from May 16th - May 25th, and $25 on race day. The fee for the Kid’s Dash is $10. A tech T-shirt for either race can be ordered for an additional $10 if registration is dated on or before May 16th.
Competitive vs Recreational
Registrants in the 5K can register either as a competitive or recreational entry. Competitive entrants will be issued a chip, will receive an official time, and be eligible for awards. Recreational entrants will not receive an official time, but they will be able to see their finishing times on a digital clock at the finish line.
Awards
In the 5K awards will be given to the top three men overall, to the top three women overall, and to the top three finishers in each of the following age divisions 12-under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and over. In the Kid's Dash, all finishers will receive an award. A special trophy will be given to the top High School runner in both the male and female categories.
Late Registration/Packet Pickup
Late entrants can register and pre-registered entrants can pick up their packets at Omega Sports in Cary on Friday, May 25 from 5:30-7:30 pm. Late entrants can also register and pre-registered entrants can pick up their packets on race day at WakeMed Soccer Park beginning at 7 am.
Post-race activities
After the race there will be door prizes, a fundraising cookout and expo of our vendors with treats and games for the family.
