Paradise Ride Kauai - Cycle for Life 2012!
Paradise Ride Kauai ("PRK") is a fully supported, 2-day bike ride on the island of Kauai, August 4th and 5th, 2012. It’s an amazing ride--not a race--through some of Kauai’s most breathtaking scenery, along the ocean, through valleys, local neighborhoods and open countryside. The ride is produced by Malama Pono Health Services which began as a grass-roots response to HIV on the 'Garden Isle'. Today, the mission of Malama Pono is to educate and support those dealing with HIV/AIDS, STDs, and infectious Hepatitis. Paradise Ride Kauai is an important source of funding and helps provide services and programs not otherwise supported by Kauai United Way and State or Federal programs.
"Design Your Own Ride"
Whether you are participating in a group event for the first time or you are an experienced cyclist, you will be able to choose your ride destination at select rest stop points on either Day 1 (North Shore) Day 2 (South Shore), or Days 1 & 2 combined. Simply put, this means you can choose to go as far as you think you are able starting at 11 miles, or 18 miles, 35 miles, and new this year - a full century ride of 100 miles on Sunday, all the way to completing the entire route for both days totaling 110 miles or 150 total miles if you choose the Century option. For more information on how you can Design Your Own Ride check out the Paradise Ride Kauai website at
www.paradiseridekauai.com
While this ride shares the roadways with vehicles, all riders are required to obey all traffic laws and use good bicycle etiquette such as not wearing head phones, ride single file, pass only on the left, using your voice or bell when passing and staying mindful of vehicle, bicycle and pedestrian traffic at all times. Also, helmets are mandatory.
All meals are included on both ride days including a "Mahalo" (appreciation) dinner and closing ceremony.
***This year we have a fundraising minimum of $250.00 per rider. When you register, your fund raising web page will automatically be set up and you will be able to enhance it to make it unique to you. It will allow you to campaign via email or personal link. Let all your friends and family know about your participation in this event and ask them to donate and support your efforts.
