Diary of a new marathon runner

Happy New Year!

Just a quick note to let everyone know that I'll be blogging here regularly again soon as I've just signed up to be a mentor for the Team In Training Chicago Early Bird team. I'll be helping first timers and experienced marathon runners train to complete the Chicago 2008 marathon. More to follow!

Vivian Hambrick-Ryan's Gravatar Hi from San Diego. I am fairly new to running and have decided, for various reasons I won't bore you, to run a marathon this year, 2008. I am aiming for the New York marathon in November. I've started training on my own with 3 weeks now; 3/3miles and 1/ 6 mile on saturdays. I'm wondering if anyone could suggest a good fit for a pretty good shape, over 50 (not much mind you) female,in the San Diego Area. Thanks for your suggestions and Happy New Year to all.

Adam Howitt's Gravatar Hey Vivian,
Thanks for the comment! I wasn't sure what it was you were looking for - a training partner, a mentor or something else. In any of those cases I heartily recommend you contact the Southern California team in training group. They can help you prepare for New York (or another marathon) and you'll meet people to train with too.
