Slacker week

I've been pretty sick this week after my first run on Tuesday. Stomach sickness, stuffy head and exhausted much of the time so this morning it felt good to get out and run a 10k long run in 53:08, or a pace of 8:29 per mile. I also took care to stretch a little before the run and a longer stretch when I returned so my glutes aren't aching now. The run felt great with a temperature of 51 degrees and I felt like I could have carried on running South if I had wanted.

I just bought the Nike Speed training workout mix 1 of the iTunes store so I'll be reporting how it went sometime this week. This mix has you warm up for 10 minutes at a comfortable pace before doing four intervals of increasing intensity, guided all the way by Alberto Salazar. I'll let you know how it goes!

John's Gravatar I tend to slack as well. I find that it really helps having an online log of my run. I found this site - logyourrun.com - where I can enter my running data online and you can overlay a running program onto your calendar and the website will tell you how many miles you have to run on each day of the week. I am training for the Memphis half-marathon and the half maraton program has been a great help with staying on schedule.

Keep up the running!

John

Kieran's Gravatar Keep it up son... Have you applied/got in on your next marathon? Will it be Boston? Will it be Chicago?

Got my walkjogrun.net t-shirts through the other day and tried out the long sleaved one as it's getting pretty cool down here in Schwartzwald (The Black Forest) Most comfy and also quite good on the Hi-Vis side as well since the nights are creeping in again.

Adam Howitt's Gravatar John, Thanks for the link. I'm actually integrating that type of functionality into WalkJogRun at the moment. It's in development but shouldn't be far away.
Kieran, I didn't know you had ordered shirts. Send me a picture with you somewhere in Germany in the shirt and I'll add it to the site. I think ING Georgia in March is the next marathon. Wanna run it with me?

Kieran's Gravatar Sorry fella, I only just saw your reply to my post here. Yeah I'm sure I will be able to get a photo of me either pre or post run, sporting my new t-shirt. Should look good in the alpine hills of the Black Forest.

I think doing the Georgia marathon might just be a bridge too far for me. I'll set my sights on possibly doing the London marathon maybe... some day!!
